Seared Tuna & Brown Rice Bowl

When I popped into Wabash Seafood Co this week for some fish I noticed some cut to order sushi grade tuna and decided to snag half a lb to make something yummy out of. I debated on going to the poke route but ultimately decided on seared tuna atop brown rice with a bunch of toppings.

What I Used:

  • 1/2lb sushi grade tuna

  • Quick tuna marinade estimates: 2Tbsp soy sauce, 1Tbsp rice vinegar, 1/2 lemon worth of juice juice, dash of sriracha, pinch of sugar, splash sesame oil

  • Chopped greens - I used box choy and sautéed it lightly with salt & pep

  • Shelled edamame - I used TJ’s frozen and just boiled before serving

  • Avocado

  • Brown Rice - TJ’s frozen, ready in 3 min

  • Pickled Ginger

  • Sesame Seeds

How To:

  1. Marinate the tuna ahead of time to infuse it with some flavor

  2. When you’re ready to eat, prep all of your toppings and at the very end sear the tuna over high heat for just a minute or so on each side. Let it sit for a moment then slice thinly.

  3. Before making dinner I marinated the tuna, then when it was time to eat I seared it, sliced it and served it up with.

  4. Add any other garnishes or sauces you like!
